About Jazz At The Amp

Jazz At The Amp is an outdoor summer jazz concert series created in 2016 by the Columbus Jazz Alliance (formerly SEMM Foundation), and its 24 hour jazz radio station Jazz 98.5 FM, WSAX radio. It was first presented at the Alum Creek Park North Amphitheater. 2016 was the inaugural season of The Jazz At The Amp series consisting of four concert days that occurred on the second Saturday of each month between June and September. The first season featured jazz from a variety of jazz sub-genres, from smooth jazz to classic big band jazz. The series fast became the talk of the town for being the must go to place in the summer for live jazz in an inviting outdoor setting.

Our 2017 line-up featured some of the best of our Homegrown jazz artists and groups, as well as invited national jazz acts. Jazz fans heard music from several jazz sub-genres, saw great performances and best of all, each concert was FREE to attend.

The 2017 Jazz At The Amp was expanded to seven concert days that began in July and ran through mid August. The 2017 series lineup offered our listeners, jazz fans and live music lovers alike, some of the best talent in the country featuring saxophonist Paul Taylor, trumpeter Cindy Bradley, pianist Brian Simpson, saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa, guitarist Matt Marshak, saxophonist Deon Yates, The Rick Brunetto Big Band, The Tommy Wade Orchestra and a tremendous lineup of our Homegrown jazz artists and groups.

The 2018 season was even better! It featured performances from Kim Waters, Nick Colionne, Eric Darius, Copacetic, Greg Bandy & The Jazz Alliance, Four80East, Jackiem Joyner, with the return of Brian Simpson and Paul Taylor.
